This is an heirloom banjo: I expect it to last, well, long past my lifetime.Īll of the parts are top-grade, especially the custom OME "Sweetone" tailpiece. Everyone comments on it the minute I take it out of the case. Scroll peghead, overall 19th century look. The first banjo every that I have not tweaked in any way at all, nor do I expect to, for a long long time. Fret work, bridge, neck relief, all ideal. The neck is perfect, with surprisingly low action (3/32" 12th fret) despite zero buzz. The perfect interpolation between the 19th & 21st centuries. The best-sounding clawhammer banjo (to my ears) that I've ever heard: warm, rich, full, and plenty loud. Submitted by KingStudent ( see all reviews from this person) on ġ2" wood rim, 25.5" scale.

I would cry salty tears if anything ever happened to this banjo and I would definitely look to replace it. I read a testimonial about the Juniper tenor on the Ome website from John Carty, one of my favourite tenor banjo players, where he made a similar observation re: his own playing improving because he couldn't put the banjo down. This banjo is a joy to play and I'll likely get better as a player due to putting more time in as a result. I hemmed and hawed about pulling the trigger on this banjo purely from a financial standpoint and I am so glad that I took the plunge. It came with a lovely wooden armrest, the tuning pegs turn smoothly and hold tune well, all hardware is top notch. Scoring a 5 purely from a neutral "I don't know" standpoint.

Don't think the warranty is transferable so that's N/A to me as well.

N/A, haven't had any reason to contact them. I would definitely use it at a gig without feeling the need for a backup. This is a top class, extremely well made banjo and I'm confident that it's going to stand up to years and years of playing. It also came with aged brass hardware which really caps off the look. It looks like mahogany (they also offer the model in maple and walnut and I'm fairly confident it's neither of those!), nice MOP inlay on the peghead and on the neck. This is the nicest banjo I've every had, and has a beautiful simplicity to it's appearance. I got this used, the banjo was well set up, though I did have to swap out the D'Addario tenor strings for my favoured set of Newtone ones as the D'Addario ones are a little lighter and come with a plain A string - my preference is for a wound A. There's nothing I dislike about the sound at all Very full, nice amount of sustain, loud with fantastic tone. My Juniper tenor has a 12 inch pot with a rolled brass tonering and as such it has a warm and slightly mellow sound. Price Paid: 2000 ($US) (bought USED) Sound Submitted by ruraltradpunk ( see all reviews from this person) on Anyway, great banjo - be careful if you buy one! If you go to the Eagle annual Krueger Brothers day in Huddersfield, you will hear them endlessly promoting their "focus on customer service" - now rings a little hollow for me. I don't know who to be annoyed at - Eagle or Ome? Apart from anything else, they had already agreed (contracted) to add the name plate for $250. About 6 weeks before delivery Eagle were in touch to tell me that "apparently, I had been given incomplete information" and that the addition of a simple name plate meant the otherwise standard banjo was now a "custom model and that the price would go up significantly" I never found out by how much as I cancelled the nameplate order. I thought this a little pricey (nearly 10% of the total cost) but agreed. Eagle checked with OME and came back saying yes but the charge would be $250. Price gauging - beware! About a month into the 10 month lead time from order, I requested the addition of a simple name plate. Great banjo but rubbish customer focus and service.
